THE RAPE OF NANKING

Text books open on the date December 1937

blank pages remain like secret words had drifted

as blowing particles of sand,

hidden under marble stones

on an island rarely touched by man!

Yet on the shoreline of Nanjing an underbelly of hurt

still hangs--like breeched lungs spitting fire wood

onto a beach that hides the numbers of this genocide!

In a black and white Polaroid

a man stands smiling bestride floating entrails

flesh like bubbling whale skin besides the Yangtze River;

Hands like desecrated fins

how his orders twist the logic where denialism slivers it’s hands,

over the eyes of a world blinded by lies.
