In the Lingering Days to Come

Too early for sober reflection,

I gaze at lightening sky, gray-blush

to clouds dense as sorrow.

Gone, tempestuous summer.

I know nothing more about the stars

or the broken bones of solitude.

At my side, a slope of books,

a chance at hidden grace.
