Complete Contest Guidelines for Submissions

1. Submit one previously unpublished story of up to 500 words. Multiple contest entries are permitted, but you must submit each piece separately to dsdianefuller@gmail.com.

2.  All manuscripts should be typed and double-spaced.  Use 12-point font, Times New Roman.  Please include entry title(s) and page numbers on all manuscript pages.  Since the competition is vetted blind, the author's name and identifying information (including address, telephone, and email) should appear only in the cover letter page, identifying information must not apear anywhere on the manuscript itself which must be an attached, stand alone document, as the cover letter must be.  The flash will be assigned to various readers.  The editors will judge the top twenty-five submissions and announce the top five finalists.

3.  No mailed submissions will be accepted.

4.  Simultaneous submissions are permitted; if accepted elsewhere, please withdraw the flash from the contest immediately.  If a flash is chosen as a finalist, Grey Sparrow requires that it be withdrawn from other publication considerations until the winner is selected.  If the flash is scheduled to be published elsewhere before August 2012, please do not submit it.

5.  The winner will be announced in August of 2012 and published in the Fall issue of Grey Sparrow, 2012.  All contest entries will be considered for regular inclusion in Grey Sparrow.

6.  Writers associated with any staff of Grey Sparrow are not eligible to submit work to the competition.  Previously published writers at the Sparrow are welcome to submit to the competition, trusting there is no personal affiliation with the staff.

7.  No money will be refunded.  Submissions will not be returned.  To submit to the competition, as noted, forward work to:

dsdianefuller@gmail.com

8. There is a $5 entry fee for each entry.  A free PDF of the journal featuring the winning flash will be sent to all entrants.  Payment may be made by PayPal with a click of the link below:
