CHIRPS FROM THE SPARROW

Deep gratitude is extended to all of the fine authors, artists, and photographers who have come to Grey Sparrow, our volunteers, and our readers!

Yes, we are still in our infancy.  Changes are in the wind given a five-year evaluation.  A strategic decision was made to make Grey Sparrow Journal an all poetry journal with publication biannually online only in 2016. Be sure to review our new guidelines for 2015.  Accepted stories will be honored for print and online publication quarterly through 2015.

We are proud to announce, Photography Consultant Ralph Smith, has his photography displayed on the cover of American Photo, a phantom used for aerial photography; November/December 2014.  He provides valuable recommendations  for our covers; printed and online.

Luke Hawley received an honorable commendation from the Nebraska Book Awards associated with the Library of Congress in the category of anthologies for his book, Northwood Hymnal.  Only two books were honored for the entire state of Nebraska in 2014, the first place winner for The Untidy Season:  An Anthology of Nebraska Women Poets, Edited by Heidi Hermanson, Liz Kay, Jen Lambert, and Sarah McKinstry-Brown, Publisher:  The Backwaters Press,  and the honorable commendation for Northwood Hymnal by Luke Hawley.  We are thrilled for all who placed, poets and our short story writer!

Grey Sparrow is in full swing sharing the rich tradition we have established of showcasing fresh voices and visual art resonating with hope, peace, and justice.

May the joy of the New Year be with you and thank you for your support of Grey Sparrow
