OF GOOD STOCK

You are such a tease

I’ll wait forever for

The kiss you never gave me

Shopping for each other

In mingle market

You are such a flirt!

Cute as a puppy down to the

Last whisker

Floss my feathers

You unruffled bird

Loopy lips

I intently watch

Reading your paper skin

For memories

Of shivering shadow games

We used to play

We weave a complicated knot

But you are too expensive for me

Pure breed.

END OF SEASON

The garden is done

The apples have fallen

Frosted dirt mixed with hair

Spilt ends poke her face

Like her path split

The winds sweep it up

A threat to her skin

A feline shiver

Misunderstood

Ununderstood

Sweeps her away

It is not she that moans

But every life spent

Out of mother earth

Out of her season

She rests

And questions her

Purpose

All winter.

NOBLE WOMAN

As Eve, I am a disappointment

To the white Father

The ingratitude of her children

Sweeps this country

I am half

Gypsy of history

From Bécancour

Molded to fit the frame

Painted to match the color

Of Moses' burning bush

The white color I am half

But never white

Never Christian

I sit naked

With the moaning of the winds

Exposing the fruit

Not yet bitten

Intimate with the wall behind me

Garden of Eden

Just down the St. Lawrence.
